I must be mad, but I'm seriously considering rebasing the entire 40mm collection on something more elegant that would also allow me to break down the battalions into 3 x 8 figure bases, the current bases are somewhat scruffy and were cut by hand, I also now have access to a wider choice of materials that would greatly enhance the appearance. I'm thinking of having a test run with the Marines first.
Lovely little Pendraken castings. |
You got those Winged Hussars painted up quick - but didn't take the opportunity to paint their horse in various colours as was sometimes the practice? I think the feathers were supposed to eagle feathers, which I have always assumed meant they would predominantly be various shades of brown, although I fudged it on the one Hinchliffe guy I painted as a trial / bit of fun - perhaps I'll send a photo sometime.
ReplyDeleteHi Rob - There are four shades of horses, light brown, dark brown, a black and a roan with various highlights, not shown too well in the photos, my Spanish painting light is fading badly and I need to replace it. Feathers, that had occurred to me so I might well re touch them.
Delete....you definitely have the gift with horses.. love them... rest aren't so shabby either! LOL..
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, I'm pleased with them and enjoyed painting them. I have an interesting box of 20mm stuff for John to paint which is what I mostly like to do. I'm still waiting on the Baccus 6mm figures so they are helping to fill the gap.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! wonderful painting, my sincere compliments, looking forward to getting my hands on them, have fun with the rest i sent, no rush
ReplyDeletecheers John C
Thanks John, most important thing is that you are happy with them - as I am :) I'll have a delve back into the box next week to see what's next.
DeleteLovely looking winged hussars!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Cheers Iain.
DeletePS: Please bear with me on the BA bits, all packed up but I still have not got to the local PO yet!
Wonderful Hussars, well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil.
Deletehorse shades fine with me, leave feathers as you have done them as i like the look of them cheers John C
ReplyDeleteWill do John. I wanted to make the 'wings' stand out thus the choice of shades and the dry brushing on the feathers.
DeleteArrgg... re-basing! Not madness just the pursuit of perfection, well that's what I tell myself. The winged hussars are superb.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ian. I'm gearing myself up for what would probably be a long slow job, but I think it would be worthwhile.
