The Royal Mail Debacle goes on!

It is now THREE weeks since we last had a letter post delivery from Royal Mail and I have at least FIVE items, all posted 1st class, undelivered. This includes steel washers (bases) from eBay. a box of figures from Essex Miniatures and a few Warlord Epic  sprues for painting in addition to a couple of important letters. We did get a Special Delivery box from Old John a couple of days ago and my wife spoke to the driver who confirmed that the letter post was - in his words -'stacking up' down at the sorting office. They are under instructions to focus on the parcel post only. Our own postie will be out for at least another two weeks following his knee operation.

I have now written to my MP informing him of this situation who has conformed that he will be taking this matter up on our behalf. When you purchase RM postage you enter into a legal contract with them to deliver in reasonable time.

Once again I'm on the lookout for the Lesser Spotted Postie again this morning, it's driving me a bit mad now!

Thank you all for the lovely Birthday comments on my previous post :)

  1. Our postal deliveries have been spasmodic for quite some time. Parcels and packages are usually delivered within a week of being posted (usually 48-hour delivery, which now seems to mean within a week) but letters seem to come once - and sometimes twice - a week. Our postie does his best, but like yours, he’s been told to concentrate on parcels first.

For the last two months we’ve had an additional problem: roadworks due to a series of burst water mains and sewers that have closed off major roads in our area. Delivery vehicles are having to be diverted around a constantly changing pattern of road closures that their schedules don’t take into account.

Good luck with getting your deliveries,

    Bob

    1. Thanks Bob. Its been an extremely frustrating time., I know that I have driven my poor wife mad with my c0nstant staring out of the window! But I think things might be beginning to stir now after my MP's intervention :)

  2. A good point about ‘expectations’ of contract.

    1. It rather feels like they are taking the p**s given the cost of postage these days!

  3. Lee have you spoken direct to your local sorting office? They’re usually pretty helpful if you can find the number!

    1. Very frustrating Ray, what's worse is that our regular postie predicted this would happen when he was out for his operation, he's been there for many years.
      Cheers,
      Lee.
