A blast from the past!

Was it really that long ago since I shouldered my musket to help preserve the Union and fight the Rebel upstarts as a member of the 42nd Pennsylvania 'Bucktails' ?

  1. Excellent - the Union needs such men, especially now! Just out of interest, where did the 42nd Bucktails meet up?

    1. The 13th Pa. Reserves later becoming the 42nd Pa. Volunteers, raised at Harrisburg Pa. via Dartford in Kent :) When I was given my 'Bucktail' it stank to high heaven so I shampooed it thoroughly when I got home, I had the cleanest brightest tail in the unit!

  2. Was that really you? Well done for being a Union man, no doubt following in the Strawbs footsteps some 28(?) years earlier?

    1. I knew you would respond to this one John :) Good times, I remember my first event at Knebworth out on the Union skirmish line seeing the long line on Rebs advancing, I had goose bumps and was genuinely nervous. We quickly fell back!
      Cheers,
      Lee.

  5. Hi Lee,

Did you by chance know a Mick Vince from your days in the Southern Skirmish? He was an ACW reenactor back in the day.

    All the best,

    DC

    1. Hello David, the name does not spring to mind but we are going back a bit :) Do you know which unit he was in?

  6. I believe Marcus Hinton was a founding member? I have happy memories of watching the annual reinactment at the American Museum in Bath back in the 90s! Glad to see you were fighting on the right side...

    1. Hi Ian. I had not heard that of Marcus Hinton, I really must look into it, The American Museum event was the annual end of year event and great fun with spit roast, lots of beer and the singing of Civil war songs late into the night :)
      Cheers,
      Lee.
