15 years painting figures for 'Old John'.

I was reminded whilst replying to a recent comment by James that I have been painting figures for 'OLd John' Cunningham for a solid 15 years in which time I have painted thousands of 20mm 1/72nd figures for him. The video below from my channel show just the tip of the iceberg of John's vast collection and a few shots of the man himself at his large permanent wargame table. I continue to paint on a monthly basis for him and should get to the 3D prints next week.

As I have wound things down somewhat recently I'm only painting for John and Noel which keeps me happy and I am about to embark on a large WotR 15mm commission for Noel as I finish up his two year Black Powder and Fire & Fury ACW projects this month.

  1. There is something to be said for sourcing from one painter simply for continuity in the collection, plus from your point of view there is the ‘happy customer’ angle ….. you must be doing something right after all these years :-)

Reducing your painting demands to something more reasonable is probably the best thing that you could have ever done.

I was thinking of you yesterday when watching a US YouTube on a recent big convention and Jim Purky was describing his new found joy of 40mm Napoleonics ….. and that in turn got me thinking about Graham C!

    1. All these years/decades of painting figures and I don't own a single one now Norm :) I get much joy from John's reactions every time he opens a package from me, both John and his wife give me so much positive feedback. My wife knits little teddies for charity and she knitted John a little Streltsy bear complete with long coat and fur edged cap which John loves :) Age is catching up with me though and I can't put in the long hours of painting that I could a couple of years ago even, so made sense to ease it back, still I'm very much looking forward to the 15mm WotR project for Noel.

Graham C, yes so sad but at least those 40mm's that he loved found a good home in the US alongside those of Ian Smith.

      All the best,

      Lee.
