Epic command figures rebased and more Old Guard!

I'm just indulging myself in these lovely Epic figures now! The Old Guard now comprise the 1st and 2nd Grenadiers and the 1st Chasseurs plus a battery of 12 pounders for good measure, all from a £6 sprue with plenty more left on it. I have the combined Engineer and Marin base undercoated and will add just for the variety of the uniforms. I also decided to rebase some commanders on a 60mm frontage single base for DBN as I wanted to try to give an impression of a gaggle of mounted generals on the battlefield and I'm far happier now. Lightly dressed the bases here and there but careful not to overdo it as I'm not using tufts etc on the main bases. I also found that photographing them on the back of a placemat seems to bring out the colours more accurately.

If I had to describe what really attracts me to the Warlord Epics for me it would be 'mass impact'.

  1. The Commanders look very good grouped and based larger.

    1. Thanks Norm. I'm probably going a bit overboard with the Epic photos here but I'm just so enthusiastic about them. No doubt they are popular as when I post the pics on FB I get a regular 100 likes and loads of comments, I have also noticed an upturn in blog page views which is good for morale.

  4. The large “command” bases do look nice Lee, but I can also see that sometimes gamers will want individually based command figures. I guess it depends what you’re trying to represent really. Horses for courses and all that… 😉
You certainly do get the impression of big battalions, with plenty of figures. That’s good as far as I’m concerned. 👍👏👏
    Cheers,
    Geoff

    1. Hi Geoff. I still have a fair number of command figures that can be based individually as extras. I'm planning a couple of 'baggage' bases, probably camp scenes with tents etc and using lots of spare figures on it!
      Cheers,
      Lee.

  5. Lee, as always an excellent result. I’m not decided re the command bases yet I may do a sabot type base so I can vary how they look. I’m really not surprised at your enthusiasm this range seems to tick all your boxes

  6. Hi Graham and cheers for your comment. Still can't quite get my head around what exactly has drawn me to the Epics after I tried so hard to resist!

  7. So is a 'gaggle' the official collective noun for a group of generals? ;o)
