A dash of Ottoman colour!

Thirteen mounted Ottoman command figures for Old John. Ten of the horses (rear) are ex Eric Knowles collection and supplied ready painted, the front three are painted by myself. As John had more or less given me a free hand with these I went for plenty of colour and quite a bit of gold. The banners were also supplied and I just gave them a gold edging before gluing them on.

  1. I'm surprised you have to eat or sleep with the rate you get these done. BTW the ECW armies did sit in the loft for about a year so it really only took just over two years to bring it off.

    1. Rob, I only paint for a few hours each day, I'm kind of addicted to it! I'm trying to achieve a balance between a good wargame standard quality and affordability, I could of course go further in terms of shading and highlighting.

    1. Thanks Norm, I had never painted Ottomans until recently and it has been a bit of a learning curve but starting to get the hang of that elaborate costume now.

  6. Thanks Graham, they were fun to paint, I let rip with the colours :) I think I'm only just starting to understand just how colourful the clothing of the period was, John has sent me a load of printed references and links.
